Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao aka #NTR was born on this day, a hundred years back

Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao aka #NTR was born on this day, a hundred years back. A film star, politician, and hard-working person.

While the martyrdom of Tanguturi Prakasam got Telugu people a separate state, the spirited political fight of NTR got Telugu the much-needed #identity at the national level. His government decentralized administration and worked for the welfare of the poor and women. Telugu people are proud of #NTR.

His political party was deviously usurped and its cherished ideals were given a go. Usurpers claim his political legacy to continue the family hold on AP polity by creating a new class of political feudal which NTR decimated in 1983.

#UttarAndhraParty draws inspiration from the political action of #NTR to get development to UttarAndhra and recognition to its people.

Shradhanjali to NTR! Jai UttarAndhra!! Jai Bharat!!!

Reflections of Shri Metta Rama Rao, Convenor UttarAndhra Party on competing 4 years in politics

Reflections of Shri Metta Rama Rao, Convenor UttarAndhra Party on competing 4 years in politics Leaving IRS mid Feb 2019 was a decision of both my heart and mind! Village in me never left despite my 37 years stay in towns and big cities. Over time, villages turned poor. Depleted of their dynamism, villages have become dull. Agriculture remained stagnant. People and governments invested less and less in villages and agriculture to create avenues for employment to rural people. Born there, I felt it as my duty to do something for rural areas that are close to my heart. My MPA study at LKY School (NUS) in 2010-11 helped me understand my potential. My study of Singapore Public Administration and it's growth story encouraged me to do some thing for India, least for my native area, UttarAndhra! Scope to carry heart's work as bureaucrat is limited. As bureaucrat I was focussed on work given. I had a choice between a steady career growth for 7 years vs uncertain new politic...

India needs a Second National Capital

Metta Rama Rao, IRS (vrs) Former Principle Commissioner Customs & CGST  India needs a Second National Capital till a green field New National Capital is built in the geographical centre of India. Dr B R Ambedkar in his book "Thoughts on Linguistic States" published in 1955 has written a full Chaper on "Second Capital for India" While discussing at length justfying the need to go for a second capital has clearly preferred Hyderabad over Kolkata and Mumbai. He did not consider Nagpur. Main reason he brought out in his book is the need to bridge north and south of the country. He recommended Hyderabad as second capital of India. Why we should consider Dr Ambedkar's recommendation: Delhi was central to British India. After partition, Delhi is situated at one corner of India. People from South find it daunting to visit due to distance, weather, language, culture, etc. If Hyderabad is made second capital, it will embrace all southern states. People of South India ...
